For a mother, her son’s happiness is paramount and beats everything else. Just ask Savannah James, who watched her eldest son Bronny James fulfill his lifelong dream. When the Los Angeles Lakers selected the teenager, it was an emotional moment for the family. The usually composed mother had tears running down her eyes. And even Bronny felt the gravitas of the moment weighing down on him.
When speaking about the night on her famed podcast, Everybody’s Crazy, the businesswoman reflected on her emotions during her son’s ‘judgement day.’ Even though an entire day passed, Savannah James had to take a moment to stabilize herself before expressing her myriad of emotions.
“I had a moment yesterday. Which isn’t crazy, it was just an emotional moment. I watched my boy do something that is, I’m just so proud. Nah I’m a G. I’m not going to cry this time. But yeah that’s the craziest thing because I just didn’t see it coming. It just hit me like, they all came at once,” James explained.

Even Bronny James went through a multitude of emotions. When his mother handed him the Lakers cap, the teen was evidently overwhelmed by his dream moment. After facing several challenges, including a heart surgery and public outlash, the 19-year-old stood on his dream. As a mother, Savannah James understood Bronny’s emotional journey and only wanted him to fully embrace his dream.
“I often ask him. And I feel for me, as long as he is feeling the feels, I’m happy with that. As long as he is feeling all the feels like I was feeling all my feels and I was trying to be a G and I was not being a very good one. And whatever that looks like. If you need to cry, you need to relax, you need to talk to somebody like whatever. Just feeling all of it,” she told her co-host April McDaniels.
Adapting to the NBA spotlight has been challenging for Bronny James. He began his Summer League campaign looking rusty, struggling to find his flow. But during the last two games, the former McDonald’s All-American showed just what he is capable of. And the reason behind it is because he is ‘special’.
