Nina Dobrev arrested got arrested – what’s behind it
The rumor has been circulating for years that Nina Dobrev was arrested before the start of “The Vampire Diaries.” A friend of the actress has now revealed what actually happened.
Six years have passed since the finale of ” Vampire Diaries ” (TVD), but fans have not forgotten the series and the cast. One Twitter user even recalled that before the series premiered in 2009, there were rumors that lead actress Nina Dobrev (played Elena Gilbert) was arrested . Even later, when the series was running, there were always fans who brought up the topic. A screenwriter and friend of the actress has now explained what is actually behind these rumors.
Vampire Diaries: Pictures of the “arrest” resurfaced
A few days ago, a Twitter user posted police photos of Nina Dobrev , Candice Accolla (played Caroline Forbes), Kayla Ewell (Vicki Donovan) and Sara Canning (Jenna Sommers), with the comment: “14 years ago the cast of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ arrested for exposing their breasts in front of drivers and hanging from a bridge.” At the time, the US portal TMZ reported that the four actresses and a photographer had been arrested for “nuisance to the public” and had to pay a fine of $4,000.
Screenwriter Carina Adly Mackenzie (who, among other things, wrote episodes of the TVD spin-off “The Originals”) responded to this tweet and explained what actually happened. It was all a misunderstanding: “Okay, I’ll say it. They just had a photo session (not for TVD, but for a photographer friend) on the bridge. (…) The misunderstanding was cleared up and everyone went home.” A police officer is said to have misinterpreted the word “flashing”, which in English means “to flash” but also “to bare breasts”. Because the camera was used, there were flashes that were reported to the police – but no one exposed themselves, according to the author.
She continued: “Likewise, they weren’t hanging OFF the bridge, they were hanging out ON the bridge. It may not have been very safe, but they weren’t crazy. Nina and Sara had just received their work visas to film TVD in the US . They were very aware that violating the law could result in them being literally deported.”
